OUR FAMILY of SIX

Our half-dozen sized family consists of Richard, the senior pastor at our local evangelical Presbyterian church; Renee, a stay-at-home mom who has been a math and health teacher for a private high school; and our four children, ages: 15, 14, 12, and 10.
We are currently living in our new home in Delaware, but have lived most of our single and married lives in western Pennsylvania. As I reflect on our 21 years of married life, I am overcome with praise and gratitude for the many, MANY blessings we have experienced. Having four children did not come easy to us. I was pregnant three times, had three consecutive miscarriages before our first daughter, Allyson, came to us. We were thrilled at the prospect of finally having a child full term, only to soon realize months later that our beautiful newborn was born with hydronephrosis (she had 4 kidneys, and her ureters were quite tangled at the bladder).
We nearly lost her, but by the grace of God, and the hundreds of prayers that went up for her, God miraculously saved her life, kept her from shock, and healed her body from the severe consequences that dehydration can have on an infant. Soon after, three more beautiful gifts were added to our family, and we having been “living” out those blessings ever since.
LIVING CHEAPLY
Financially, we know what its like to have next- to- nothing, but still survive quite nicely. For the first 10 years of child-raising we lived on Richard’s one salary (not too much for a small town, first-time pastor), and learned how to live simply, and within our means. Homemade foods, coupons, practical shortcuts, hand-me-down clothes all became a MUST in our household.
We’ve learned how to look for bargains, reap the most from the discount warehouse stores, recognize good quality products, and have learned several practical tips for large family living. It is our desire and passion to pass along resources and information on the very issues that affect large families who want to lead healthy, successful lives...the lives that God intended for us. We hope that as God blesses this website, that our reader’s lives will be blessed in some way, as well.
